Remember Today Workshop - 13 Double Page Layouts!!!!

I love taking a project and making it mine. I also love taking a single page layout and transforming it into a double page layout and getting double the space for my pictures and stories.

Close to My Heart recently released their annual calendar special - Remember Today and it has so much goodness in it.

Base pages, Die Cuts, Stickers,

Calendar,

and Coordinating Stamp Set (this is a fabulous stamp set to use not just for your calendar but also for embellishments in all your layouts).

Here is a video that shows all the pieces in more detail:

Now, What if I told you that you could create 13 double-page layouts out of this kit PLUS have a calendar to use for another project later on only by adding more cardstock and a few other supplies?

I love how this comes together and gives us so many layouts to use for all kinds of pictures, themes and memories.

Join me January 6th at 6:30pm on my ScrappinwithHeatherHicks Facebook page to create these fun layout and 10 more that can be used in your everyday scrapbooks. Then through the remainder of 2022 I will show you how to make a themed calendar to be used as a gift or memory keepsake or create 1-page layouts from your scraps from our monthly workshops that can be used for your calendar pages. You choose what will work best for you.

It’s time for some Pumpkin Spice

Don’t you agree.  ‘Tis the season for warm sweaters, warm drinks, pumpkin muffins and time to remember and ponder all the things we are thankful for.  After such a crazy year that may seem hard but the fact that you are still here is a blessing and I for one am thankful for you!

After a short hiatus I am back and ready to create with you all again!  I hope you are ready. With a whole new core catalog, season idea book and all the VIP specials and normal customer specials going on right now my head is spinning with lots and lots of ideas.  Why again do we all have to have day jobs and just can’t craft the day away?  At least I love my day job so… there is another thing I can be thankful for. I have a “job” and I love it!

Ok, sorry, back to the point - haha.  This months workshop is featuring our new Pumpkin Spice Workshop kit. I decided to take this kit and play around some.  The busyness of the “hero” (main themed paper) stretched me a little but I hope you like the outcome. I also had this idea in my head for the specialized paper that only comes in the Pumpkin Spice workshop kit.

This multi-stripe paper looked like makeup to me. I don’t know why but that is where my head went so I decided to do a fun layout using that paper that turned out to not be fall-ish at all but I thought worked well with the papers.  If make-up isn’t what you see when you look at it - no worries, it can be used for so much more.

This next layout is an interactive layout that either allows you to add many more photos or everyone at your Thanksgiving meal have a place to write what their thankful for, or both.  This layout does have some bulk to it but is so cute and will be so awesome to look back at for years to come.

Exciting Changes coming to your Craft with Heart Subscription

I am so excited to tell you about some of the amazing changes CTMH is making to their Scrapbooking and Cardmaking Subscription programs called Craft with Heart. If you have never heard of their Craft with Heart program, let me tell you a little about it.

A few years ago, Close to My Heart came out with a subscription program with beautiful layouts and/or card kits that had everything included for you to create, including full-color instructions, die cuts, base pages, etc. All you need is adhesive and a journaling pen. Each kit is beautiful and looks intricate while actually being super simple to put together (layouts take an average of 30 minutes to complete and cards 5 minutes each to complete).  You had the option of receiving a box monthly or every 4 months and they gave you the option of signing up for a month, every 4 months or annual payments.  With each tier there were incentives to help save money - the 4-month kit and annual payment plan were discounted, as well as, the annual subscribers received FREE shipping and 30 FREE prints at Persnickety Prints per shipment.

Here is a sampling of the current Craft with Heart kits.

Scrapbooking: receive 2 layouts for each month, or 8 layouts per each 4-month shipment

Cardmaking:Receive 24 cards (2 of each design) in each 4-month shipment.

CTMH has seen such an amazing response to customers purchasing the 4-month and annual subscriptions that they have decided to discontinue the monthly subscription, because, really, who wants to pay full price when you can get the kits at a discount and are now offering even more perks to those participating in the annual subscription.

Beginning September 1st when you sign up for a annual subscription or renew your subscription for either the Scrapbooking or Cardmaking Craft with Heart program you will now receive a FREE stamp with your subscription box.

The scrapbooking stamp set is perfect for sayings to highlight your pictures and help tell your story of the events in the pictures.

The Cardmaking stamp  set is a perfect addition to stamp your envelopes or the back of your cards.

PLUS:

  • Now when you sign up or renew your subscription you EARN V.I.P. Credit on your subscription. Credits can not be used towards your subscription but they do earn you credits - that is 15% of the cost of your subscription to be used on future Close to My Heart orders!!!
  • The amount paid for a Craft with Heart™ subscription on each order counts toward earning the Stamp of the Month at a discount or free for VIP's

If you haven't tried the Craft with Heart subscription programs, I highly encourage you to.  They super cute and a fun way to receive quality scrapbooking or cardmaking supplies at your door  3 times a year that will help you preserve your memories, faster, simpler and easier then ever before.  Head on over to my website to see the next layouts being shipped in the September subscription box.  And as always -

Happy Scrappin',

Heather

Deep Roots Blog Hop

Welcome to this months Blog Hop featuring the Strong Roots Stamp set.  If you've been following the blog hop train, you are coming here from Krista's blog.  We are happy to have you join us on this journey to see some beautiful creations from several Close to My Heart Makers.

If you're not familiar with the Stamp of the Month, each month Close to My Heart releases a special stamp that when you spend $50 you can receive for ONLY $5!  BUT if you are a VIP customer, when you spend that $50 you receive 15% credit in your account for future purchases AND the stamp of the month for FREE. Our VIP's get the royal treatment at Close to My Heart. Click here to find out more about our VIP program.

Now on to this months Stamp of the Month - Strong Roots.

The watercolor bug has bitten and as soon as I saw this stamp set I knew I was going to get to play. I grabbed my basic supplies and then a few extras:

Of course:

And then I saw some new items from our July-August Catalog that I knew would complement this stamp set so well:

Here is my creation:

I feel like this would be a great Grandparents Day card which is coming up September 12th, Father's Day or birthday card. I tried to keep it fairly simple with not much embellishment so it wouldn't overwhelm the men in my life - you know how they are with glitter; it's like cooties to them - haha!

The watercolor made this stamp set feel so tranquil and soft.  Have you played with our watercolors yet?  The Close to My Heart home office did a whole series on YouTube showing different watercoloring techniques.  You can check them out here.

Now hop on over to Lauren's CTMH Craftings for more artwork using this rustic and heritage inspired stamp set.

 Happy Scrappin'!

Is that White Pines I see?

I don't know about you but for me Christmas always seems so far away until it isn't and then I am  scrambling to get it all done. I am excited to announce that CTMH had decided to give us a hand this year in getting ahead of the Christmas craziness by bringing back one of my favorite Christmas paper sets in July. White Pines papers are back and have been updated to coordinate perfectly with our currecnt CTMH colors and now includeds a fun and unique sticker sheet that coordinates with the Paper Pack too.

To help us get prepared for the coming Christmas season, they are offering two different workshops - one scrapbooking

and one card-making.

If you had the chance to play with these papers in the past, you know just how beautiful they are.  They also brought back the coordinating stamp sets so no need to buy those a 2nd time if you already have them.

If you've never played with this paper before and you want all the things, CTMH has created a special bundle just for you:

Keep an eye out on my Facebook page - Scrappin with Heather Hicks over the month as I show you some things I created in the past with the White Pine's Papers and make sure to grab yours while you can. This special is only available from July 1 - August 31 OR until supplies last.

What Is Your Why?

That is the question I get asked all the time.  Why do I own and run a scrapbooking retreat, homeschool my children, be active in the church and still feel the need to teach scrapbooking. It is one thing to just scrapbook for the fun of it, to preserve the memories (especially because my brain is forgetting details quickly these days), and to use it as another means to spend time with friends but why teach people and work Close to My Heart as a “business”.  Well, to be honest my time with Close to My Heart has never felt like a business.  Sure I have made money from it, enough to full my husbands dream of owning a boat,  but I LOVE to help other people experience the joy of getting “inky” and getting their photos off their phones and onto papers that more and more people can see, to help them tell their stories and share those stories with more people and to give them something that generations to come can look at and learn more about their family that was ever shared before.

Recently my family had the opportunity to watch two young girls as their parents went out of town. While they were with us, I thought it would be fun for them both to create the Born to Shine mini album.

Close to My Heart taught several months ago. I had all the supplies and I thought it would fun for them to share some of who they were.  I looked up photos off their mom’s facebook account and photos I had taken previously of their family and they went to work. And they loved it!  They didn’t follow all the directions, they took liberties on how they wanted to do and they made it theirs!  They did what scrapbooking is all about.  Making it yours and and telling your story.  The youngest girl took her book with her every where she went and showed it to everyone she saw.  She was so proud of her creation.  The oldest was a little more private with hers but really poured her heart into and saved it in a special place.

Fast forward about a month later, That same girl (the 2nd one) was selling cookies to raise money for summer camp. I went to her stand and purchased enough cookies for the ladies at the retreat for them to enjoy. I love to pour into our children and help them when they are working for things they want.

This last Sunday I went into church, Father’s Day mind you, and there that same girl stood with a bouquet of fresh flowers and a gift bag.  I was excited to see what she was bringing to her dad but then she told me they were for me - FOR ME!  What?  I was beyond stunned, gave her a hug and went to find my seat, because if you know me, you know I am usually late (it’s not my fault, I run a  retreat, remember ;-)).  Anyway, once I got settled, I opened he card at the top of the bag and this is what it said...

This is what was in the bag...

Later I I found out from her mom that she bought these stamp sets and flowers with her own money, without any help or guidance from her parents. I guess this story is more about bragging on what a good heart she has but it reminded me that this is why I scrapbook and make cards.  Because doing so shows those I love, that I care about them and want to remember and share our stories. I teach young girls how to scrapbook because I want them to know how to do the same and have a fun and creative way of expressing themselves. Her heart and action was beautiful but it reminded me that this is why I scrapbook and teach people to scrapbook, because we have no idea how it will impact someone but it might help them say goodbye to someone they lost recently through pictures and telling their story, it might be to try to capture in pictures and journaling the feelings they had during a vacation or family get together and it may just draw a young child to see another part of herself that is amazing and she can use that to keep pouring into other people.  It is my desire to “pass it on”.  To pass on the stories, the love for creativity, the heart for others and the chocolate chip cookies. :)

What is your why for scrapbooking?
