It’s time for some Pumpkin Spice

Don’t you agree.  ‘Tis the season for warm sweaters, warm drinks, pumpkin muffins and time to remember and ponder all the things we are thankful for.  After such a crazy year that may seem hard but the fact that you are still here is a blessing and I for one am thankful for you!

After a short hiatus I am back and ready to create with you all again!  I hope you are ready. With a whole new core catalog, season idea book and all the VIP specials and normal customer specials going on right now my head is spinning with lots and lots of ideas.  Why again do we all have to have day jobs and just can’t craft the day away?  At least I love my day job so… there is another thing I can be thankful for. I have a “job” and I love it!

Ok, sorry, back to the point - haha.  This months workshop is featuring our new Pumpkin Spice Workshop kit. I decided to take this kit and play around some.  The busyness of the “hero” (main themed paper) stretched me a little but I hope you like the outcome. I also had this idea in my head for the specialized paper that only comes in the Pumpkin Spice workshop kit.

This multi-stripe paper looked like makeup to me. I don’t know why but that is where my head went so I decided to do a fun layout using that paper that turned out to not be fall-ish at all but I thought worked well with the papers.  If make-up isn’t what you see when you look at it - no worries, it can be used for so much more.

This next layout is an interactive layout that either allows you to add many more photos or everyone at your Thanksgiving meal have a place to write what their thankful for, or both.  This layout does have some bulk to it but is so cute and will be so awesome to look back at for years to come.

A Craft with Heart review

Craft with Heart, Close to My Hearts monthly scrapbook layout subscription program was released last August and though I have talked about it on my Facebook page I haven’t said much here on my blog.

As a quick review, the subscription can be purchased monthly, quarterly or annually. With both the quarterly and annual subscription you receive 4 months of layouts at a time but with the annual subscription you receive free shipping and 30 free photo prints from Persnickety Prints with each shipment.  The base page of each layout is already designed and laid out but accent pieces are included for you to add dimension with 3D Foam tape   This gives you a beautiful design with minimal effort helping you scrapbook faster, simpler and easier.

Here are the layouts that were sent and I created with the latest shipment.

Something Fierce:
I used the Brushed Alphabet (one of my favorite alphabet stamp sets) and a couple cricut cuts for my title but stayed pretty true to the layout as created and shown.

I Heart Us:

For this layout I used the Paw Prints on my Heart stamp set to help embellish my layout and tell its story.  The horizontal picture on the bottom of the left page wasn’t originally shown in the sketch but I felt like it needed to be part of the layout so I added it in - making it mine.

So Much Happy:

Feels like Home:

Here I changed the direction of the photos on the left page because it’s what I had to work with. :-)
The flowers in the Feels Like Home kit are black and white - the perfect canvas to make it your own.  However I added color to the flowers using the Sugarplum Shimmer Brush on the outside edges of the flowers and colored in the flowers with last years color of the year - Bashful. This added just a pop of color in the grey areas to really accentuate the pictures and draw them out. Finally I added some Silver Embellishing Thread behind the flowers and finished off the layouts with some Sugarplum glitter gems.

So, after creating all of these layouts, what are my final thoughts?  I love that each of these layouts took me between 15-30 minutes to create, more when adding my own touch to it.  The layouts looked great on their own but I love that I can add a little something extra here and there to make it my own. I hope you like them as much as I do.  Click here to try out the Craft with Heart for yourself.  Also, when you sign-up for a subscription through my website you will be added to my special, exclusive Facebook group where I talk over each layout and also shows off other options that other professional bloggers and scrapbookers have created with their Craft with Heart layouts.

Happy Scrappin’!

Creating some Happy Hearts with cards

A couple days ago I showed you the layouts that I created with the Happy Hearts paper and stamp collection.  Today I want to show you the cards that I created.  Last November I gave my retreat girls a challenge to mail five cards a month to bring a smile to peoples faces. I love how many of them have risen to the challenge. The cards are beautiful and I KNOW many smiles have come from their cards.

I decided to change things up a bit for myself for February. Instead of sending them to different people this month, I plan to hide several of these cards in my husbands bags,  drawers and maybe even his car for him to find throughout the month.  As I watch my daughter with her boyfriend leave little notes for each other, I wondered why I don't do that anymore. We did it all the time when we were dating 22 years ago but I think it would be fun and spark joy and smiles for him to receive some when he least expects it.  What do you think?  Maybe you should try this too and let me know how he responds 😍.

These cards only took a small fraction of my leftover papers from the kit after completing the layouts I showed you last week.  I love that Close to My Heart gives us so many goodies that allow us to do so much with them.  Talk about a dollar stretched!

As a reminder, the Happy Heart kits are only available during February or while supplies last and when you get the kit with the stamp set, you SAVE 25%.  Get yours today!

You Make My Heart Happy

When my kids were little we tried to talk with them about always having a happy heart. There are many things in life that we can't control but we need to be o.k. with it, find the best in everything and having a "happy heart" is key.  We still use that phrase quite a bit around here and though it isn't always easy, I think it is a good rule to follow.  Believe it or not, it's actually how I came up with my group and team name - Happy Scrappin' Hearts!

One of Close to My Hearts specials this month is the  Exclusive Heart Happy paper collection and stamp set. Not only does it come in two workshop options but it makes my heart happy!

The also created a whole Everyday Life Album workshop you can create as well with the paper kit.

I love all the creativity and hard work that went into these kits so I don't have to create from scratch - don't you?!

There are several ways to get this collection but when you order the kit that includes the Exclusive Stamp set you SAVE 25%!

Here is a close up of this fun stamp set only available through February:
Isn't it awesome!  I love it!

I love the colors of this set and though at first glance it looks like a traditional Valentine's Day paper, there is SO much more that you can do with it.  Take a look at these 4 layouts I completed (3 already with pictures - oh yeah!).

Now I can't take credit for the design of these layouts as another fabulous consultant designed the layouts, however, she did give me permission to share the instructions and Design Space cutting files with anyone that ordered the kit from my website.  As you can see above, Close to My Heart also created some fabulous layouts, cards and tags with these papers and have the instructions downloadable for you.

Be watching the next few days as I post some cards I made using this fun stamp set.

In the meantime, hop over to my website and take a closer look at the kit for yourself.  It's so pretty and you aren't going to want to miss out on this one for sure!

Scrapbooking Through the Year makes an Album

I LOVE TO SCRAPBOOK!  Yep, bet you didn't know that about me - hahaha! I love to scrapbook but I don't always find the time every day or every week to be able to sit down and look through my beautiful papers and pictures, assemble a layout and be caught up (caught up - hahaha - that's funny!) on documenting all that my family and I get to do.  You don't have that same problem, do you?

One of my goals for next year is to find about 30-45 minutes of my own on Thursday's to be able to scrapbook.  With this month's special from Close to My Heart I really feel like I can accomplish my goal with a little prep now.

CTMH has compiled a monthly calendar layout to help us stay up to date and remember some of the fun moments from that month.

This calendar kit comes with everything needed to create a 12x12 layout for each month.
You can get the kit shown above WITHOUT the stamp of the month stamp set from last month for only $38.95 or With the Stamp set for $56.90.   As an added option to get a double page layout for each month, a sister consultant put together another page and page toppers for each calendar month as an additional workshop with full-color instructions.  I have purchased that workshop from her to pass on to you.  Look at these great layouts that you will create to complete the calendar and finish it in an album at the end of the year.

Additional supplies will be needed to complete the page toppers and 2nd page for each month. Those supplies will be an additional $35 if cutting out the titles with your Cricut or an additional $100 with the Thin Cuts - Block Alphabet set. This calendar kit would make a great Christmas gift or again a great way to stay caught up in 2018.   Click here to get your kit before they are gone.

Kits are Key!!!

As many of you know, my family recently made a move to Alabama to run a crafting retreat house.  It's sort of like a bed and breakfast but you stay for 3-4 days at a time, get yummy food your entire stay and even get a massage if you so choose.  It has been wonderful and I am so glad God planned this for our lives.  With this recent move though my scrapbooking time has become much less then what it was previously. I have found that having a kit where all the planning is done has become key! Last weekend I only had a little over an hour to do anything fun so I took out an old card kit that I had received at convention but didn't have time to complete while there.  It was so fun and easy to throw together and they looked great (if I do say so myself :) ).

I love that Close to My Heart has focused on kit's with our newest Seasonal Expressions Catalog.  These will be awesome to help keep me on track and caught up.

Take a look at the new Cut Above Layout Kit - Forever and Always:

Isn't it beautiful!  This is how to kit comes:

and there is even a video on my website showing how to put the Cut Above kit - Little One together:

These are super cute and so easy to put together!!!  You need to try them out!

Need some cards, We have kits for those too!

This is small sampling of the new Seasonal Expressions offerings. Check them out and get your supplies ordered. Remember, kits are key for getting your pictures scrapped and books completed! Have fun!!!

Happy Scrappin!

A True Workshop your Way WITH Friends!

As many of you know I have recently moved to the beautiful area of Scottsboro AL.  I am excited to say that we purchased the gorgeous Grand Oak Retreat know as the destination for crafters, church groups and homeschool groups to get away, create and relax with friends.  We are excited to be taking on this new venture but I am also thrilled to be continuing my Close to My Heart business there.

HOWEVER, you, my friends and customers are not forgotten. For the last 12 years I have loved creating with you all at workshops, crops, retreats and events. Though I won't be able to continue leading these events in Spring Hill and the surrounding areas, I think I have come up with a great alternative so you can still get together with your friends, keep up on your crafting efforts and have some fun.

How about you and 4 or 5 of your friends set aside one evening or weekend each month to get together at each others home or pool house to just have fun and create scrapbook layouts, cards and maybe some Picture My Life Layouts!?! Each kit will come with everything you need including full-color, step by step instructions. Close to My Hearts newest Workshop your Way workshops are the perfect kits to create in a group with friends.  Setting aside time to see your friends and create is always so worthwhile and fun  but to make it even better, I will throw in several free items for the group leader just for checking in with your friends each month and reminding them to purchase the next months kit to be done together on the date of YOUR choosing.  In the past, as I set up the workshops, the timing didn't always work for you and now you will have the flexibility to work it around you and your friends schedules. If you are interested in being a group leader and learning about all the extra perks for you, please contact me now.

I know December is a crazy month for most people so I am planning the first Workshop kits to be mailed in January. Since Christmas will have just ended, I think that is the perfect time to scrapbook those pictures.  We will be using the City Sidewalk Papers to create these fun layouts:

As a special gift, I will be sending each person these pocket pages shown above FREE!   They can be easily inserted between your layouts as another means of showing off your favorite pictures and happenings during Christmas.

Not only will you create these layouts, but you will have enough paper and instructions provided to create these cards and PML pages.

Aren't these pages fun!!! I love the sparkle and glitter that is sprinkled through out the embellishments that really make the pieces pop!

Though you will completing these layouts in January, these kits are only available through the end of December or while supplies last. I would highly encourage you to order your kit, using the link to the right, before December 15th!  When you order your kit, please put in the memo line who your group leader is as I will mail all the kits and instructions directly to them.  Also, if you are interested in being a group leader, don't forget to contact me so we can talk about all the added benefits you will receive.

I look forward to hearing about all the fun you have as you continue to create with friends and hopefully make new friends in the process.

Happy Scrappin'

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas!

It's not even Thanksgiving yet but we all know it takes time to decorate and prepare for Christmas.  Christmas is definitely one of my favorite times of year but with it comes lots of preparation. I love the new Happy, Happy Christmas kit from Close to My Heart to help with the Christmas prep and finish work.  Last weekend I was able to get away and retreat with several of my local ladies.  There was a lot going on but I was pleased that I was able to create some while relaxing and socializing.  One of the things I created was the extra project that you can make with the Happy, Happy Christmas kit.  It's not the best picture and but here is the final result:

Though you can't see it very well in the picture, there is lots of little bling here and there to really make this display tray shine! And it literally took only 10 minutes to put together. The instructions for the Happy, Happy Christmas are probably some of the best instructions I have seen CTMH put together for us.  Everything was well explained and thought through.  You definitely need to check them out.

Remember, this kit gives you one Red Christmas Album, All the instructions, papers and embellishments to create 5 double -pages layouts (that's 10 pages)!  Check out my website to see all the details and pieces that come in the kit and the extra items that have been discounted to give you even more creating with the leftover pieces from the kit.

Making it Magical

Hello from Orlando Florida!  I am hear enjoying the beautiful sunshine and getting ready for Close to My Heart's Annual Convention.  Life has been pretty stressful lately so I am so excited to be here and enjoy a little down time.

However, I wanted to show off the new Magical Workshop layouts.  If you haven't seen this paper yet, you are going to LOVE it!  It is such a FUN paper pack and extremely versatile.

Here's a layout with could be used for any occasions that brought BIG smiles!  Aren't all the little cameras soooo cute!?!

This 2nd layout is a fun layout that could be used for truly anything but with 4 kids, I am always behind on birthday layouts.  These pictures were taken in 2005!!!!  See it doesn't matter if you are behind it just means you have more options to choose from when you scrapbooking :)

The stamped titles I used are from several different stamp sets. Can you figure out which ones? Hint: I hope you've been reading my newsletters for one of them. Tell me which stamp sets I got these titles from on my Facebook Group page and win a free gift!  :)

This last layout is the one we all think of when we think of Magical - Disney of course, right?!?  Again, these pictures are from 2009 but for some reason scrapbooking my Disney pictures intimidates me.  I think it is the shear number of pictures we take at Disney. I hate not to tell the whole story!  This paper is perfect for Disney.  I'm sure you will be see several more layouts I create to finish my Disney trips.

My workshop date for Magical has passed but you can still purchase these layouts.  Just click the link on the right.  I am happy to ship this kit to you for only $6 more or if you are local, I would be happy to meet up with you or save it for our next crop.

Happy Scrappin'!
