Daisy Meadows Workshop

I'm back!!! It seems like it has been forever since I have updated you all on what is going on.  Don't worry, I haven't stopped scrapbooking or event stopped teaching. In fact, I have been having fun teaching lots of classes over on my Scrappin' with Heather Hicks Facebook page. There is so much going on that I wanted to make sure I kept you in the loop so you didn't miss out on anything.

I am so excited to tell you about my Daisy Meadows Workshop coming up on April 22.

I'm loving the white flower overlays from the Daisy Meadows Workshop Your Way (WYW) Kit.

The WYW kit lends itself so many fun and unique pieces.  Here I mixed the kit with the exclusive Cricut cuts created for the Spring Meadows paper.

Last but certainly not leased is the beautiful layout that allows us to celebrate new beginnings, whether that is a new baby, new marriage, new home or just the fresh beauty that spring brings, this layout is super universal and will work for any of those pictures.

You Make My Heart Happy

When my kids were little we tried to talk with them about always having a happy heart. There are many things in life that we can't control but we need to be o.k. with it, find the best in everything and having a "happy heart" is key.  We still use that phrase quite a bit around here and though it isn't always easy, I think it is a good rule to follow.  Believe it or not, it's actually how I came up with my group and team name - Happy Scrappin' Hearts!

One of Close to My Hearts specials this month is the  Exclusive Heart Happy paper collection and stamp set. Not only does it come in two workshop options but it makes my heart happy!

The also created a whole Everyday Life Album workshop you can create as well with the paper kit.

I love all the creativity and hard work that went into these kits so I don't have to create from scratch - don't you?!

There are several ways to get this collection but when you order the kit that includes the Exclusive Stamp set you SAVE 25%!

Here is a close up of this fun stamp set only available through February:
Isn't it awesome!  I love it!

I love the colors of this set and though at first glance it looks like a traditional Valentine's Day paper, there is SO much more that you can do with it.  Take a look at these 4 layouts I completed (3 already with pictures - oh yeah!).

Now I can't take credit for the design of these layouts as another fabulous consultant designed the layouts, however, she did give me permission to share the instructions and Design Space cutting files with anyone that ordered the kit from my website.  As you can see above, Close to My Heart also created some fabulous layouts, cards and tags with these papers and have the instructions downloadable for you.

Be watching the next few days as I post some cards I made using this fun stamp set.

In the meantime, hop over to my website and take a closer look at the kit for yourself.  It's so pretty and you aren't going to want to miss out on this one for sure!

It's a Stampaganza Blog Hop!

Hello friends!

I can't believe how long it has been since I wrote to you all last.  This year has been one of many ups and downs with lots of crazy turns along the way but I am so excited to be back and stamping and scrapbooking again.

July is Stampaganza at Close to My Heart which means now is the perfect time to order all those stamp sets you fell in love with when you were looking through the catalog!  Only during July, purchase any two stamp sets and get the third set of equal or lesser value free!  That is an incredible deal!  Also, remember when you spend $50 you get our Storybook Alphabet set, our July Stamp of the Month, for only $5!

Stamps

So... What stamp set is your favorite from our current catalogs?  Right now, mine is the No Worries - Scrapbooking set. My family was extremely blessed to be able to take a cruise in May.  This was our first family vacation in several years so to say that I took several photos would be an understatement.  As I begin to go through the photos, I am also beginning to create my layouts for those photos.  Here is the first of many layouts I will create to help document our wonderful journey.

This is a simple layout so that my photos can take center stage as they should.  I did pop-up several of the stamped images to add depth to the layout.

Items used to create the layout were:

No Worries Paper Packet - X7220B
No Worries - Scrapbooking stamp set - D1718
Lagoon Ink - Z2895
Whisper Ink - Z2872
Gold Shimmer Trim - Z1985
Cricut Artbooking Collection - Z3169
Bitty Sparkles - Z1263

Kits are Key!!!

As many of you know, my family recently made a move to Alabama to run a crafting retreat house.  It's sort of like a bed and breakfast but you stay for 3-4 days at a time, get yummy food your entire stay and even get a massage if you so choose.  It has been wonderful and I am so glad God planned this for our lives.  With this recent move though my scrapbooking time has become much less then what it was previously. I have found that having a kit where all the planning is done has become key! Last weekend I only had a little over an hour to do anything fun so I took out an old card kit that I had received at convention but didn't have time to complete while there.  It was so fun and easy to throw together and they looked great (if I do say so myself :) ).

I love that Close to My Heart has focused on kit's with our newest Seasonal Expressions Catalog.  These will be awesome to help keep me on track and caught up.

Take a look at the new Cut Above Layout Kit - Forever and Always:

Isn't it beautiful!  This is how to kit comes:

and there is even a video on my website showing how to put the Cut Above kit - Little One together:

These are super cute and so easy to put together!!!  You need to try them out!

Need some cards, We have kits for those too!

This is small sampling of the new Seasonal Expressions offerings. Check them out and get your supplies ordered. Remember, kits are key for getting your pictures scrapped and books completed! Have fun!!!

Happy Scrappin!

Where's our Winter Wonderland?

Every Christmas I just wait for the snow knowing that it must come, it's Christmas after all right?! Well if you are here with me in TN you know the weather around here is CRAZY! Christmas day and it was a whopping 70 degrees outside!!!  To help me remember what Christmas is suppose to feel like and look like, I took out some pictures from last February - pictures of snow and all the fun that comes with it!

If you purchased the White Pines paper, you most likely have some of this blue diamond paper stil available. Here I used that paper, the White Pines Complements and the beautiful white Glitter Paper and I was able to put this layout together super quick. I debated posting the layout because my photo just does not do the shimmer justice but trust me, the shimmer makes the photos pop and reminds me of the glimmer snow makes in the sun. The glitter paper definitely makes the layout!

Are you missing the snow?  What are you creating to help you feel like it is winter time?

I've Run Away!

I have run away and it is time to play!

Life has been pretty crazy this summer and since the start of school, even more.  It was time for me to run away, rest and play and that is exactly what I have done this week - Hala!!!

My play time started in Memphis as I ran to play with Brian and Tiffany from our Corporate office. I was also able to meet up with my downline, Lisa.

They came and did a quick but wonderful Making Connections event.  We got a great word from our C.O.O. Brian Holman and then Tiffany gave us a plethora of creative supplies - oh yeah!

Look at all these wonderful goodies!

We had such a wonderful time talking, laughing and creating.  Here is one of the project we created during the night.

I love the simplicity of the layout with simple cardstock, but I love the  pop from the Designer Creations Mini Frames and the Glacier Fundamental Assortments - love that stuff!

The night was fabulous and I had so much fun! If you want to have fun, learn lots of new techniques and artistry, I would love to have you on my team. Click here for all the details.  Trust me, you won't regret joining the Close to My Heart family!

Now I'm off to another retreat with some more fabulous women.  :) Have a great weekend!

Lollydoodle part 2 and Timberline

I meant to upload these pictures of our Lollydoodle workshop earlier but....  well, you know, life!  Life is good, just busy.  Here are the layouts we created during our Lollydoodle workshop a few weeks back.  These are such fun papers!

The Workshop on the Go:
2nd Layout created using the leftovers from the WOTG:

That same day but later in the afternoon we held our Timberline workshop.  I absolutely loved both workshops in the WOTG so those were the layouts we created.

This paper is awesome for those masculine layouts or outdoor fun.  Both these layouts were used to scrapbook our adventures last summer at Camp BaYouCa in NY.  It is a camp that I attended every year growing up - I was so excited to be able to take my family back there for them to enjoy it.  They haven't stopped begging to go back since we left.  :)

Dream Pop, Pop Pop!

Lately I have been asked a lot what types of projects I have been working on and although I would love to show you pages upon pages of completed layouts for my scrapbooks, unfortunately my books haven't been what I have been completing. I have however been helping a friend with her scrapbooks before she has to move and in the last 2 months we have finished 8 albums!  WOW!!!  Now, if I could only do that with my own pictures :).

I did, however, take a small group of amazing ladies on a scrapbook retreat at the beginning of May where we completed this layout built upon the theme of our weekend.  We used our National Scrapbooking Months Dream Pop papers, Pink Glitter Gems, Color-Ready Trinkets Wooden Shapes and the May Stamp of the Month - Pinwheel.

Aren't the papers beautiful!  I love how the texture on the silver and orange papers on the left page just seem to grab you.  It makes me dream in pop - dream pop! :)

We also covered these cute little containers. These containers are great for gift giving, home decor, stashing little trinkets and so much more. I have a few friends who are going through a difficult time right now so I plan on printing out some encouraging Bible verses and putting them in the container to give to them.  Each day as they can pull out a new Bible verse and be encouraged and blessed.  What would you do with yours?

To get your dream pop paper and Pinwheel stamp set before they are gone - head on over to my website and shop now.  Also, remember, sign up for the I Am Blessed Album Retreat by May
31st and receive your Dream Pop Paper FREE!!!

Two Weeks, Two Complete Albums!!!!

cancun_-_6
Yep, can you believe it!?!  Going to the Album Retreat a couple weeks back, we created an entire album in only 3 days!  It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to share with you all that we created but I am still waiting for some of my pictures for the layouts to come in so I will post those layouts as soon as I can.
However, can you believe then in  two evenings, less then 6 hours I had my album completely finished from our trip to Cancun!?!  I decided the best way for me to remember everything and be able to get it all down in my album was for me to scrapbook it quickly which meant digitally – using Studio J.  Now for those of you who are a true, traditional scrapbooker – let me tell you – so am  I!  I love using the papers, ribbons, stamps, cutters and whooo don’t forget the bling – love the bling!!!!  But, sometimes I want to get an event done before the time passes and I forget many of  the special memories or funny little tidbits that made us laugh.  With kids, homeschooling, church and lots of other events, my life is usually in high speed so it’s hard for me to scrapbook events during the same month, or sometimes same year, as they happened.  I’m sure that never happens to you – LOL!
So – here is a peak into out trip to Cancun:

cancun_-_2

cancun_-_5

Beautiful wasn’t it.  I honestly have to brag on Studio J with these layouts. Last year Close to My Heart came out with Express Collections in Studio J.  These collections are theme related and make scrapbooking as easy as it can get.  It is pretty much a drag and drop option to scrapbooking where the layouts are completely created for you and you drop your pictures in, add your journaling and Viola – you are done.  You can add additional embellishments, journaling blocks, change titles, colors, and more if you want but you don’t feel like you have to because the layouts are completely gorgeous already.  You can pick one layout from the express collections or use the whole album.  I created my layouts from a few different albums, whatever I needed to get the look I wanted.
If you like the idea of digital scrapbooking but you want to make it completely yours, without the layout completely created for you already, Studio J still has their original line, with more and more papers and layouts added throughout the year.  These layouts give you maximum flexibility letting you choose what papers, layouts, colors, embellishments, font, etc. – everything to create your own layout but completely from your computer.  AND no matter what option you choose, the double-page layouts are only $6.95!!!  Now – that definitely can’t be beat!  Check out Studio J  for yourself.  Happy Creating!!!

Memories with La Bella Vie

Wow!  What a crazy week this past week or so has been.We are back to school, I'm teaching at our homeschool coop, helping at the church and just trying to be a good mom and wife.  So it was nice to get together with some friends and have another All Day Crop last Saturday.  I usually just bring scrap papers to my all day crops, hoping to get a few cards made but also leaving lots of time to socialize with everyone and peruse their great artwork as well.

However, this crop I came with the new La Bella Vie papers and had an idea in mind.  My husband and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary earlier this year and just recently I came across some pictures that we had taken on our honeymoon.  I thought these pictures fit perfectly with the theme of the papers and wanted to "play" a bit with them.

Well...  What do you think?  we sure have changed a bit during the last 15 years and I am sure we will change a bit more during the next 15 years but I am so blessed to be married to my best friend.

Well, I still had quite a bit of paper left and decided to create this layout with the pictures I found in my tote bag.  These beautiful pictures were taken by a sweet friend of mine who is a photographer in Franklin, TN - Captured Images by Andrea.   TinkerBell was so excited to have her pictures taken and Andrea did such a good job capturing the personality of my girl.

If you like these layouts and would like to create them yourself, join me on September 28th from 6 - 9pm as we, laugh, scrap and have a little girl time.  There are several workshop options to choose from so take a look to the left side and choose the best option that works for you.  Would love to have you join us!

Scholastic

Friday night was my Scholastic workshop and I thought I would show you what we created.

Here is the layout I created using the Imagine Book, Jazzy Combination on pg 38 & 39.

This is the 2nd layout of the night - the Workshop on the Go layout from corporate.

As many of you know, we homeschool but my kids do attend a homeschool coop so every week in their lunch I try and put a quick card to let them know I love them and am thinking of them.  It doesn't have to be fancy but it does have to be there.  The kids have come to look forward to them and there is no way I can forget it.

Here are the cards I created for last weeks lunch. Like I said - very simple.  Remember, your cards don't always have to be brilliant but they do have to be there.

Stella Layouts for workshop

I have been having so much fun with our new Stella papers.  I have already created three double page layouts with the paper and plan on making at least one more plus some cards.  Here are two of the three double-page layouts that I created (the other one is still waiting on a few pictures I need to print :-).  ) These are the two layouts  that we will create at my workshop that was rescheduled for April 6th.
